GreenCentre Canada announces inaugural board of directors
GreenCentre Canada Release

KINGSTON, ON – GreenCentre Canada, North America’s first all-inclusive commercialization centre for Green Chemistry research innovations, is pleased to announce the appointment of its inaugural Board of Directors.

The board of GreenCentre Canada combines representatives from academia and the technology commercialization sector with a strong contingent of industry representatives from across the chemical value chain, including materials, pharmaceuticals, chemical manufacturing, chemical reclamation and environmental technologies.

Chair of the Board is Mr. Peter Snucins, Founder and CEO of Polycorp Ltd., a leading designer and manufacturer of engineered polymer products.  Mr. Snucins is the former President and COO of Clairvest Group Inc., a Canadian publicly listed merchant bank on the Toronto Stock Exchange.  He has created and managed a number of both publicly listed and privately held companies, and served in various capacities on a number of Boards in a broad range of sectors including investment and finance (chairing the Audit and Ethics Committees of a Canadian Chartered Bank), pharmaceutical, transportation, natural resources, communications and media, and advanced technologies.

“GreenCentre Canada has attracted an impressive and comprehensive pool of expertise from the industry, research and commercialization communities, which is crucial to the success of this unique collaborative venture,” Mr. Snucins says. “In particular we are fortunate to have such strong representation from the chemical industry, as these directors will provide perspective from across the chemical technology spectrum.”

“The response to this initiative from both industry and the research community has been tremendous,” says Dr. Rui Resendes, Executive Director of GreenCentre Canada.  “Our board is in place, staff hiring has begun, and we already have 20 research discoveries in the GreenCentre queue. This is exciting progress in a relatively short period of time.”
